01 / THE SHORT ANSWER
What AI SEO services actually do
People search AI SEO services because the old question — “what is my Google position?” — no longer covers the whole buying journey. A potential customer may ask Google an AI question, ask ChatGPT to compare suppliers, use Gemini to make a shortlist, or search Perplexity for sources before visiting a website. The click can arrive later, or it might not arrive on the first answer. The brand still needs to be present in that decision.
There is an irritating but important truth here: nobody responsible can promise that an AI will recommend your brand first. Answers change with the wording, location, language, model, date, available sources and user context. What a serious service can do is improve the signals you control, establish a baseline, strengthen the pages and sources that support the brand, and track whether visibility turns into useful visits and enquiries.

Want to know whether AI search can understand your brand?
LockeLee’s GEO and AI SEO service looks at how your business is represented across search and answer systems, then connects the findings to pages, proof and a practical next step.
02 / CLEAR THE LABELS
SEO, GEO, AEO and AI SEO
The market uses SEO, GEO, AEO and AI SEO as if they were four tidy boxes. They are not. Different agencies use the labels differently, and some sales pages make the alphabet soup sound more precise than it really is. Here is the working distinction I use when planning a project.
| Term | Main job | What it may influence |
|---|---|---|
| SEO | Help search engines crawl, index and rank useful pages for relevant searches. | Traditional results, image results, local results and discovery of the site. |
| GEO | Generative Engine Optimisation: make the business clearer and more supportable in generated answers. | Mentions, citations, source links and recommendations in AI answer experiences. |
| AEO | Answer Engine Optimisation: structure content so direct questions can be answered clearly. | Featured answers, question-led results, voice assistants and answer-style interfaces. |
| AI SEO | A broad service label for SEO work aimed at AI-influenced discovery. | The overlap between organic search, AI answers, brand entities, content and conversion. |
In practice, they overlap. If a page is blocked from crawling, badly structured, thin, or unclear about what the company actually does, it is unlikely to become a strong source for either a normal search result or an AI answer. GEO does not replace SEO. It adds another reason to care about the clarity, usefulness and reputation of the website.
A provider who tells you that GEO means adding one special file, one schema type or one batch of machine-written paragraphs is selling a shortcut. Google’s own documentation says the usual SEO best practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode, and that there are no additional technical requirements or special schema required just to appear there. Less exciting, yes. More useful, definitely.
Your site should become easier for the right person — and the right search system — to understand. That is a better brief than “make the AI like us”.
03 / THE WORK BEHIND THE SERVICE
What the service should include
A real AI SEO service is not just an AI prompt test and a list of suggested blog titles. The starting point should be a business and website diagnosis: what do you sell, who is looking, which markets matter, what proof exists, where does the site currently appear, and which pages should lead to a real enquiry?
- Build the baseline.Record organic visibility, important pages, branded and non-branded searches, competitors, AI platforms, prompt wording, location and language. Without this, “more visible” has no measuring stick.
- Fix access and structure.Check crawling, indexability, canonicals, redirects, JavaScript rendering, page speed, internal links, multilingual paths and whether important information is available as readable text.
- Clarify the brand and entities.Make the company, services, products, people, locations, customers and relationships consistent across the site and credible external references.
- Build answer routes.Create or improve service, product, comparison, use-case, FAQ, industry, documentation and location pages around real buying questions.
- Add evidence and authority.Use first-hand experience, case results, author information, source links, customer proof and relevant references that another site can reasonably cite.
- Track and iterate.Review AI mentions and citations beside Search Console, analytics, conversions and sales-quality feedback. Keep what works; stop polishing a page that is not doing a job.
Have a website, but no clear order of attack?
The SEO plan and consulting service connects the audit, page priorities, technical work, content, authority and conversion tracking into one route, so the project does not become a pile of disconnected recommendations.
04 / BEHIND THE ANSWER
How AI search finds a source
AI search is not a single directory where somebody types every business into a spreadsheet. Different products retrieve and assemble information in different ways. Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode may use a query fan-out approach, breaking a complicated question into related searches and looking across supporting pages. ChatGPT Search can browse the web and show links beside parts of an answer. Other systems use their own index, retrieval layer, model and product rules.
That makes AI SEO partly a discoverability job and partly a comprehension job. First the page has to be accessible and eligible to appear. Then the page, the organisation, the product and the evidence around them need to line up well enough that a system can connect the dots without guessing. A smooth paragraph that never says who did what, for whom and in which market is not a strong entity signal. It is just smooth.

Allow legitimate crawling, keep important information in accessible text, use sensible internal links and make the right URLs indexable.
State the service, location, audience, product, people and relationships plainly. Do not make every visitor reconstruct the business from slogans.
Use first-hand proof, clear sources, case studies, documentation, author context and relevant third-party references where they genuinely exist.
Build pages around the questions and decisions buyers actually make, not only around a list of fashionable model names.
Test a fixed set of prompts and platforms over time, then connect visibility to Search Console, analytics and enquiries.
When the answer is wrong, find out whether the problem is the page, source, entity, query, market or model before changing everything.
The important point is not that every answer will contain a link to your website. Sometimes the system will use your page as a source and show it; sometimes it will mention the brand without a clickable visit; sometimes it will choose another source because that source answered the sub-question more directly. Visibility has several shapes now.
05 / PAGE BY PAGE
The pages and signals to build
AI systems do not need a website to sound grand. They need the website to answer a question properly. That usually means giving each page one clear job and making the relationship between pages obvious.
| Page type | Question it should answer | What makes it useful |
|---|---|---|
| Core service page | What do you do, for whom, where and what happens next? | Clear offer, audience, process, proof, service area and enquiry path. |
| Product or solution page | What problem does this solve and when is it a good fit? | Specific use cases, limits, integrations, pricing or buying factors and supporting documentation. |
| Comparison page | How does this option differ from the alternatives? | Fair criteria, named differences, updated facts and a reason to trust the comparison. |
| Industry or location page | Can this business handle my exact situation? | Relevant experience, local context, examples and a route to the right service. |
| Evidence page | Why should anyone believe the claim? | Case study, methodology, author, source, result and what the result does not prove. |
| FAQ or guide | What will a buyer ask before contacting you? | A direct answer first, useful detail afterwards, and links to the page that continues the decision. |
For a Hong Kong business expanding overseas, this often means separating local and global routes instead of translating one page three times and hoping the systems sort it out. Use the right language, market examples, currency, service area, customer vocabulary and internal links. A Chinese company trying to reach English-speaking buyers needs a global site that explains the offer in their terms; a Hong Kong reader should not have to wade through an American page to find a local phone number.

The same principle applies to AI and SaaS companies. Search may begin with a problem — document extraction, security review, API integration or workflow automation — and only later turn into a product-name search. Product education, comparison pages, integration documentation and a recognisable brand entity give AI systems more material to connect. A homepage alone is a very small plate for a very large dinner.
Selling an AI product or SaaS platform?
AI and SaaS SEO needs product education, brand-entity work, documentation, global search structure and a clean route from research to demo or trial. Those pieces should support each other.
06 / VISIBILITY IS NOT ONE NUMBER
How to measure AI visibility
The most honest AI SEO report has more than a screenshot of an answer. It records what was asked, where it was asked, which version or mode was used, which brands appeared, which sources were cited, what the answer got wrong and whether anybody took a useful next step.
A fixed collection of commercial, informational, comparison and local questions in the languages and locations that matter.
How often your brand appears in the tested answers, with the query, platform and context recorded.
How often your pages or relevant third-party pages are used as supporting sources, not just whether your name appears.
Whether cited pages are accurate, current, useful and actually lead to the right part of your website.
Search Console impressions, clicks, queries, landing pages and the AI-search performance available in the property.
Qualified enquiries, calls, booked meetings, sales, applications or another result that matters to the business.

AI answers are awkward to measure because the output is not fixed like a normal blue-link position. The wording can change between two tests. A Hong Kong user may get a different answer from a user in London. A new source can enter the answer. A model can summarise your category correctly while choosing a competitor for the final recommendation. A baseline and repeatable test set matter more than one exciting screenshot.
For your own Google performance, Search Console remains important because it connects impressions and clicks to your property. It is not a complete record of every AI response, and it is not a competitor tracker, but it helps distinguish actual site traffic from a third-party estimate. Add analytics and enquiry data where possible. Visibility that never helps the right person take a next step is a nice-looking side note, not a growth system.
Want to see what AI systems are actually saying?
AI visibility tracking and GEO reporting gives the work a repeatable observation layer: prompts, platforms, mentions, citations and the pages behind them, with the commercial question kept in view.
07 / NO MAGIC FILE
Why ordinary SEO still matters
Every few months, a new file or markup idea arrives with a promise that it will unlock AI search. Some technical changes are useful. None replaces the basics.
| Work worth doing | What it helps with | What it cannot promise |
|---|---|---|
| Crawl and index checks | Makes it possible for search systems to reach, process and serve the right pages. | It cannot force a model to cite the page. |
| Internal links and clear navigation | Shows how services, products, guides and evidence relate to one another. | It cannot repair an offer that the business itself has not explained. |
| Structured data that matches visible content | Adds machine-readable context when the markup is accurate and supported. | It cannot make false claims trustworthy. |
| Useful, original, maintained content | Gives people and systems something specific to learn, compare or cite. | It cannot turn generic rewrites into first-hand expertise. |
| Relevant external references | Adds context and reputation beyond the company’s own wording. | It cannot be replaced by a pile of unrelated paid links. |
| Fast, usable pages | Reduces friction for users and makes the site easier to work with. | It cannot compensate for the wrong page or wrong audience. |
Google’s current AI-features guidance is direct: normal technical requirements and SEO best practices still apply; there are no extra technical requirements or special schema needed just to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode. Important content should be available in text, crawling should not be blocked, internal links should help discovery, and structured data should match what people can see.
This does not mean AI search is identical to classic SEO. The commercial journey is changing, the answer layer is changing and source selection is not a fixed ten-result list. It means the foundation is not obsolete. If anything, unclear websites are now being asked to explain themselves to more interpreters, not fewer.
No provider can responsibly promise a fixed first place inside ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI for every future question. Ask how the provider will establish the baseline, what it will change, what it will measure and how often you will review the evidence.
08 / WHO IT IS FOR
Who should hire AI SEO help
AI SEO services make most sense when people already use research-heavy questions to choose a provider, product or solution. The strongest fit is not determined by how fashionable the word AI sounds. It is determined by whether the business has something clear, useful and credible to be found.
Buyers ask for shortlists, comparisons, compliance details, specialist experience and proof before they speak to sales.
People ask who serves a district, handles a situation or is worth calling now. Location and service pages need to be specific.
The search journey starts with problems, workflows, integrations, security and pricing before the product name becomes familiar.
Product attributes, use cases, comparisons, reviews, availability and merchant information affect how a product is understood.
English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese can represent different markets, not merely three copies of a sentence.
A redesign, new market, new product line or sudden AI-search traffic makes page and signal mapping useful before scaling.
It is probably not the right first purchase if the business has no stable offer, no proof, no person available to approve changes, or an expectation that AI SEO means publishing hundreds of generic pages next week. Fix the commercial and website basics first. Otherwise the service becomes an expensive way to make the confusion more legible.
For Hong Kong companies, there is also a language issue. A page for Hong Kong readers may need Cantonese-aware wording, local service areas and local proof; a page for Mainland or international buyers may need different terminology, market context and conversion routes. AI can help draft variants, but it should not decide the market strategy by itself.
09 / A REALISTIC SIX-MONTH ROUTE
What a six-month route looks like
Six months is not a magic waiting period. It is a reasonable working window for a site to move through diagnosis, implementation, new content, re-crawling, evidence building and measurement without changing the plan every few weeks. The exact work depends on the website, competition, internal resources and how much can actually be shipped.
- Month 1 — find the friction.Audit the site, search demand, current pages, AI visibility, competitors, technical access, business goals and conversion path. Pick the first priorities instead of opening twenty tickets at once.
- Months 2–3 — fix the route.Resolve technical blockers, clarify core service pages, improve internal links, align language and market paths, and build the first question-led or comparison pages.
- Months 3–4 — add proof.Strengthen case studies, authorship, documentation, product or industry explanations, relevant external references and the pages AI systems can use as supporting material.
- Months 4–5 — test and correct.Repeat the AI prompt set, check citations and mentions, review Search Console and analytics, find pages attracting the wrong intent, and adjust the work.
- Month 6 — decide what earns more attention.Compare visibility, traffic, enquiry quality and completed work. Keep routes that show promise, change weak ones and agree the next cycle from evidence.

A six-month contract should still be specific. You should know what is expected in each cycle, who implements changes, which accounts remain yours, how reporting works, what is outside scope and how either side can review the arrangement. “Give it six months and trust the process” is not a deliverable.

10 / BEFORE YOU SEND THE URL
Questions before you start
Can you guarantee that ChatGPT or Google AI will recommend my company?
No. The output changes with platform, model, wording, location, language, sources and time. A responsible AI SEO service can establish a baseline, improve the signals you control and track mentions, citations, referral paths and business results. It cannot reserve a permanent place in a changing answer.
Does AI SEO replace traditional SEO?
No. It overlaps with and extends SEO. Crawlability, indexability, page quality, internal links, useful text, structured data and a clear website still matter. Google’s own documentation says its normal SEO best practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode.
Do I need hundreds of AI-generated articles?
Usually not. A smaller group of specific, maintained pages can be more useful than a warehouse of generic text. Start with service, product, comparison, location, industry and evidence pages that answer real buyer questions.
How long before the work shows a result?
There is no fixed answer. Technical issues can change eligibility quickly, while content, authority, re-crawling, AI mentions and enquiries take longer to observe. Three to six months is a sensible period for a first serious review, not a ranking promise.
What should I send LockeLee for a first review?
Send your website, target markets, priority services or products, preferred languages, the competitors you care about and the result that would make the work worthwhile. If you already see AI answers mentioning competitors, include those questions too.
What is the six-month offer?
LockeLee is offering 15% off the total value of a six-month SEO contract. The exact monthly work depends on the website and goals; the proposal should still list the work and review points before you commit.
If AI search is becoming part of your market, start with the site you have.
Send the URL and the first question you want answered. We can map the current SEO foundation, the AI-search opportunity and the pages worth prioritising before discussing a six-month plan.
